Blog Post for February 27: After watching the first half of Pay it Forward, you are already introduced the concept of “paying it forward”. What do you think of this concept? Do you think it works? Discuss a time where you feel like you “paid it forward”. How did it make you feel?

After watching the first half of the movie Pay it Forward , I was introduced to the concept  that Trevor a 11 year old boy thought of when his teacher Mr.Simonet asked his class to complete an assignment which was to think of something to change the world and put it into action. Even though Trevor is berly in his pre-teen stage in life he is very bright and ambitious because no other kid would have thought of this concept. I think that the fact that his mother is an alcoholic and his father is no where to be seen that pushed Trevor to want to do something to change or better the world he is in.  I love the concept of  Pay it Forward, this idea is very ambitious and it centers in the faith we have towards other individuals. In order for this idea to work , I think requires us do a deed from our heart without expecting nothing out of it. I think that some people in our society   are very selfish because they only seek for things that will benefit them.  This concept is something that my family believes in particularly my father. He  always taught us that if we help someone out when they are in need then maybe someday someone will  help us out when we are in need. Its similar to the belief regarding karma, I do not remember the actual saying but I think it is  like if you do something good / bad that will eventually come back to you.

  1. Denyse,
Your post reminds me of my own family and my grandmother in particular. She was a country wife who lived on a secluded farm in Oklahoma raising a family of 7 children. She would walk for miles to help a sick neighbor even in the snow. I wish we had more of that kind of "pay it forward" spirit now. Maybe we do...
